Want to order a pizza? There’s an app for that.

Need to find a date? There’s an app for that.

Don’t really want to work out, but feel like you should get off the couch at some point this year? There’s an app for that, too.

We get it. Working out sucks. We would all rather eat doughnuts instead of listening to an all-too-peppy aerobics instructor who delivers empty lies by repeating “you’re almost done!”

Which is why I’ve searched high and low for the best workout apps for women that don’t suck.

Workout challenges stretch as far and wide as my “one-size-fits-all” leggings. But I figure if my phone can find my friends, order pad thai, and deliver dog food to my door, it can also provide an at-home workout plan that actually works.

Good news, I was right and I found seven workout apps for women that tackle all the most common workout challenges.

These are not your average garbage workout apps. In order to make the cut, the app must be funny, interesting, easy, and give me money, or a mix of all of the above.

I did all the work for you, so you can get straight to the best of the best right here.

Fitness Apps that Don’t Suck

1. Zombie Run

One of the biggest workout challenges is dying of boredom while you sift through your old playlist or watching silent news in the gym.

If you need a little increase in entertainment, this is the app for you.

Zombie Run is an interactive app that is part story-telling, part heart-pounding suspense combined with freaking zombies. You can collect points, rewards, and all kinds of good stuff to use to build your base.

If you love video games, try this one out. You can still fight zombies, except you’re working out instead of sitting on your couch yelling at 14-year-olds.

2. Dietbet

Going to the gym sucks, but getting paid to do it makes it suck less.

Now, if getting a better body wasn’t good enough motivation, now you get paid once you hit your goal.

Dietbet pays you to lose weight. Seriously. It’s best for people who struggle with motivating themselves to get off the couch. If money is a motivator for you, Dietbet is worth checking out.

If the thought of going to the gym gives you anxiety, you can also use this app with home workout routines or an at-home workout plan. This makes it one of the best workout apps for women who could use a little boost to the shopping budget as motivation.

Get on the treadmill Bugs Bunny, and chase that carrot.

3. Pact

While Pact also pays you for hitting the gym, it also adds a little competition to the process.

Similar to Dietbet, when you sign up, you bet money you will lose a certain percentage of your body weight. You can also bet money based on how many days you’ll be at the gym, or what you’re going to eat.

All the money gets transferred into a pot.

At the end of the game, whoever gets their ass up and sticks to their goals gets the money.

Those who snooze, lose.

Pact also gives you the option to connect with other tracking apps making it best for people who love seeing someone else fail.

4. Seven

“Oh, I don’t have the time to exercise,” said everyone ever.

Finding time is a huge workout challenge, which is why Seven is perfect for busy people. It was awarded the App Store’s App of the Year for 2016 and for good reason.

It is just 12 workouts, 30 seconds each, with 10 seconds of rest between. That’s it. That’s 7 minutes a day that you can use as a foundation for a home workout routine.

It literally can’t get any easier for those people who are too busy for life, which is basically every woman in America – making it one of the best workout apps for women on the market.

Honestly, it takes longer to talk yourself out of going to the gym than it takes to just use this app. Use your time wisely and change your body for the better.

5. Lose It

If you’re the type of person who needs a personal trainer, but can’t afford one – this app is the closest thing you’re going to get.

It combines the best of a nutrition app and a fitness app into one location that tracks your entire lifestyle and eliminates weight loss and workout challenges.

First, you create a custom plan based on your body type, goals, and schedule. Then, it does all the work and tells you exactly what to do and what to eat (or not). It is completely customized to give you exactly what you need and works well with other apps to make it extra convenient.

It even includes over 7 million foods from popular restaurants and brands around the world so you’re not stuck eating celery and rice cakes at home forever.

Lose It takes all the guessing out of losing weight and literally does everything for you (except the sweating part). So far, the app boasts over 61 million pounds lost by regular users, so that must count for something, right?

6. MyFoodDiary

Don’t worry, this isn’t just another calorie-counting app, this one is so much more and doesn’t make you hate mealtime.

Other apps just track how much food you’re eating (insert guilt). However, MyFoodDiary actually looks at the nutritional content of that food to give you an in-depth analysis of your nutrition for each meal.

Seriously, it’s like having Bill Nye in your kitchen.

It is a complex app with a lot of tools to help you, but don’t worry about being overwhelmed. They have easy to understand video tutorials to help you navigate the app and use it to help your body reach its full potential.

7. CarrotFit

This app is not for the faint of heart, but if you need nothing less than an in-your-face drill sergeant to get your fat ass out of bed, and you are motivated by harsh criticism and thick smack talk, Carrot is what you need.

It’s a judgmental weight tracker with a focus on transforming “flabby carcasses” into state-of-the-art human beings. The good news is, it also comes with a sense of humor.

Fair warning, the app does include threats, ridicule, bribes, and sarcasm, making it both terrifying and inspiring and gives you a good laugh while getting shamed into working out.

These pocket-size smart devices are designed to make our lives easier, so use them for something beneficial rather than a time-wasting box of social media gloom.

It doesn’t have to take a lot of time or effort to improve the way you look and feel. The truth is, you don’t even have to leave your house. Most of these apps can be used with at-home workouts, or your favorite exercise DVDs or online training videos.

Summer bodies are made in the winter.

If you wait until the end of May to realize that all that fruit cake and figgy pudding are still on your thighs, you’re going to have big regrets.

The holidays are over, friend. Put down the stuffing and get moving!
